We sadly announce that the TOP500 Co-Founder and ISC General Chair, Prof. Dr. Hans Werner Meuer passed away at the age of 77 at his home in Daisbach, Southern Germany, on January 20, 2014, after a brief battle with cancer.

Hans is survived and bereaved by his wife, Ursula, his sons, Andreas, Martin and Thomas, daughter-in-laws, his grandchildren, his twin sister, nephews and nieces, as well as many friends, colleagues and the entire ISC team.

Martin and Thomas Meuer inherit his legacy, and will act as the managing directors of Prometeus, the company behind the ISC conference series. As Hans would often say, "the show must go on." The upcoming International Supercomputing Conference (ISC'14) program is complete and has been finalized. Program advisers and the conference steering committee will continue to design future programs.
