The 5th TOP500 list was published at the Supercomputer 1994 conference in Mannheim, June 1995.
For the first time, Cray Research does not hold the lead with respect to the number of systems installed according to the TOP500 criteria. Eighteen months ago, SGI was not represented in our TOP500 list at all. In the last TOP500 list published six months ago, SGI had 60 systems and Cray Research had 146 systems. IBM is currently in third place with 72 systems, an increase of 40 systems in the last six months.
With respect to the accumulated Rmax performance, Cray Research remains the leader with 1,130 Gflop/s with Fujitsu trailing in second place with 629 Gflop/s. The total Rmax performance of all supercomputers listed is 3.92 Tflop/s.
